I agree with you, but your subtitle made me think you were going in a much sillier direction.

"Aahhhhh - I'm trapped! Should I take responsibility for taking too much responsibility?"

Interesting.

When people say that, I’m pretty sure they’re not referring to:

>> What right do I have to say, "Ah, you know, being more productive, being better calibrated, being more emotionally stable, these are things that would take me too much effort. And I'm not really on board for that."

I think they’re likely referring to something approaching the opposite: That taking too much responsibility is leading one to feel overly bad, and neglect personal well-being and long-run productivity.

I agree that it’s good to care. It’s also possible (perhaps depending on personality type) to be a “happy warrior” for improvement, rather than it being based on guilt about not doing even more.
